Hi, I'm Rebecca: avid reader, puzzle solver, and according to my clients, the story whisperer.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and am a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Prime Time Television Program. Over the years I have won a number of awards including the 2016 Telefilm New Voices Award and the 2016 Corus Entertainment TV Writer’s Apprenticeship award at the Banff World Media Conference. In 2017 my short film Dissecting Gwen won the Women in Film and Television Toronto Showcase Best Screenplay award. I've interned on Saving Hope, written an episode of the Netflix hit series Travelers (Season 1 – EP 106), and worked on the award-winning CTV series Cardinal (Blackfly Season).
My own creative work has been shortlisted for the 2018 NSI Totally Television program for a co-created political crime thriller series Amazonas. I've also developed a number of children’s series including The Lightkeepers, Chick-a-Duck, a teen live action drama called Mambo Attitude and an MOW Christmas Memories. I've also written several pilots running the gamut from Sci-Fi to police dramas to an in-depth study of sex trafficking in Canada.
I know what it's like to write a novel - I've done it. Along with short stories. I've also collaborated on pieces in graphic forms (both novel and comics), and am working on my first non-fiction piece.
In addition to my writing, I teach screenwriting and novel writing through One Lit Place, a boutique online resource centre for writers.
It's a lot. I've been doing this a while. And now I'm here to support you in your own projects!
